President
The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia is conducting a nationwide search for a strategic thinker and proven administrative leader to serve as President of Valdosta State University. The President is responsible for effectively building on VSU’s steadily growing enrollment, expanding facilities, leading-edge learning technology and high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs.
An earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree with experience in teaching, scholarship, and service is required. The successful candidate also will demonstrate extensive knowledge of and experience with academic communities of higher learning and possess a strong commitment to high academic standards and to the enhancement of teaching, learning, and scholarship. Other requirements include:
* Knowledgeable and judicious budgetary and fiscal planning and oversight experience
* An ability to develop and implement long-term strategic goals and plans
* Commitment to shared governance, including faculty, staff, and students
* Commitment to the professional development of faculty and staff, and a track record of developing people and leaders
* Commitment to a progressive vision and the future growth of the university in terms of teaching, scholarship, service, population, finance, technology and facilities
* An ability to communicate effectively and inspire confidence
* Essential leadership in fund-raising, working collaboratively with the stakeholders and advancement staff to implement successfully the university’s program for resource development
* Commitment to diversity among faculty, students, and staff
