U. S. Army War College seeks Visiting Professor of Homeland Defense

The U.S. Army War College (USAWC) seeks a Visiting Professor of Homeland Defense for the academic year 2012-2013. The successful candidate will be hired under the provisions of the Intergovernmental Personnel Act that governs the temporary assignment of personnel between the federal government and state and local governments, institutions of higher learning, and other eligible organizations as prescribed. As such, candidates must be currently employed by one of these listed organizations, be available to work at the U.S. Army War College for the one year appointment, then return to their current organization. The U.S. Army War College is an accredited master’s degree granting institution and has educated senior military and civilian leaders from the United States and numerous foreign countries each year for over a century. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing strategic leaders in their understanding of Homeland Defense, Homeland Security and D efense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) issues. In addition, he or she will be expected to assist in the delivery of curriculum which focuses on homeland related topics; write and publish on matters of strategic importance as relates to the homeland efforts; represent the USAWC at professional conferences, seminars, and meetings; and develop/support the conduct of USAWC conferences, seminars and meetings. An academic background reflecting expertise in homeland defense, homeland security or DSCA is preferred. Experience in developing students at the graduate level as well as experience in research and publication in related areas is desirable. The successful candidate must be available for these duties commencing in July 2012.
