Yet another example of how the rich keep getting richer while the rest struggle to make ends meet

James,
Imagine working for the largest health system  – in fact, the largest private employer – in your state, and not being able to afford health care for yourself or your family.  That’s the situation thousands of working women and men face right here in Pennsylvania.

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – UPMC – raked in $1.3 billion in profits over three years.  It pays 22 top executives $47.5 million a year, yet it pays its own employees so little it forces many to depend on food stamps and into escalating medical debt.

Today, UPMC workers, nurses, faith leaders and ordinary citizens turned the tables on UPMC! More than a thousand activists and members, from up and down the east coast, marched through the city of Pittsburgh to demand a living wage and better jobs for UPMC workers.

We are on the ground calling for better wages and a healthier Pittsburgh.  Add your voice to the airwaves.

Share the Facebook graphic and add a tweet to let UPMC know they have a responsibility to put working people before profits.

No one in our Commonwealth should work full-time and still be living in poverty. Together, we can change this!

Make sure UPMC executives hear loud and clear we won’t stand for it any longer!

In solidarity,
Lou Berry
