Higher Ed: Is the tide turning against the for-profits?

California's Governor Brown, working to close a $16 billion budget gap, cut $134 million from the Cal Grant aid program, a cut that will mainly affect students attending for-profit colleges.

Meanwhile, Janice Jacobs, assistant secretary for consular affairs at the State Department warned international students to beware of "fake colleges."  She said, “At some of our China posts, we have seen an increase in the number of students caught up in fraudulent schemes.”
