Divestment would be dumb

The latest rage among sustainability students on college campuses is divestment by their institutions of stock in fossil fuel companies.

I wonder is any of these students drive cars.  How do their families heat their homes?

I don't doubt that the climate is changing.  I do seriously doubt that there's much that we can do about it now.  What we can do right now is become energy independent.  But this requires full exploitation of our many fossil fuel reserves.  Combined with a sensible tax structure, such an effort not only could free us from our dangerous ties with the Middle East, but could also fund development of alternative energy sources.
