Some inauguration day factoids

1.  If you are wondering why there are two swearing-in ceremonies this year:  The 20th Amendment to the Constitution states that the terms of the president veep end at noon on January 20th.  However, traditionally, the inauguration is never held on a weekend.  Consequently Barack and Joe had to take the oath yesterday morning, even though they will do public ceremony today.

2.  This year marks the 50th anniversary of MLK's March on Washington.  It's MLK Day.  And what more significant time for the second inauguration of America's first black president?  I wonder if King could have believed it possible.

3.  This day is also the 100th anniversary of the first inauguration of Woodrow Wilson.  Wilson was sworn in by Chief Justice White, who fought on the Confederate side in the Civil War.  How far we have come!
