Quo vadis? Higher Ed questions its mission in the digital age

I agree that every American is entitled to all the education s/he can handle.  But that doesn't solve higher ed's identity crisis.

It appears at present that we are well on our way to a two-tier system that reflects the growing income divide in American society.  On one side will be the affluent, who still receive the flu college experience. On the other will be the lumpen proletariat, who will get MOOCs certificates, and community colleges... if they are lucky.
