Wesleyan seeks a founding dean of nursing

Founding Dean of Nursing

Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, offers an exceptional opportunity for a visionary and well-qualified nurse educator to advance and influence nursing education through a new baccalaureate program. This selective liberal arts college for women seeks a Founding Dean of Nursing to develop and direct its new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) division. The nursing program is on track to be fully implemented in the fall 2013 pending approval by the Georgia Board of Nursing and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools/Commission on Colleges.

The Wesleyan program will emphasize holistic nursing and women’s health. It will synthesize concepts of leadership and management into the practice of nursing and integrate the role of the professional nurse with an awareness of self and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Dean will be responsible for the administration, operations, and development of the Division of Nursing. This academic officer will provide leadership to faculty and assume responsibility for the evaluation of the nursing program as required by the Board of Nursing and other accrediting agencies.

Qualifications
To receive full consideration, a candidate should be a nursing leader who has significant administrative experience and has innovative and creative strategies for developing this new program. The candidate should be a respected leader with a breadth of experience in nursing practice, education and research and should demonstrate appreciation for the mission of Wesleyan College. Additional qualifications include:
An earned doctorate in a related field required, with a Ph.D. in nursing preferred
Minimum of five years nursing academic and administrative experience as a Chair or other administrative experience in a BSN program
Active, current nursing licensure
