Aharon Barak, former President of the Supreme Court of Israel and former Attorney General of Israel, will headline the Tulsa Law Review Symposium on March 25 at the TU College of Law's Price & Turpen Courtroom.
His decisions while leading the Supreme Court created an immense impact on Israeli law through his championing of a proactive judiciary that has interpreted Israel's Basic Law as its constitution and challenged Knesset laws on that basis. Barak was influential in one of the leading legal issues of the day with his landmark ruling explicitly banning torture during interrogation of terrorism suspects.
An impressive group of legal scholars will headline symposium panels about transnational jurisprudence, judicial activism vs. judicial restraint, and judicial oversight for aggressive interrogation and the treatment of detainees. The event is free and open to the public. For more information visit the TU College of Law website.
