March 25, 2011 (Wichita, Kan.) - A Mexican national was charged Thursday with assaulting a federal immigration officer with a box cutter. Illegal Alien Arrested, Charged with Voter Fraud

March 17, 2011 (Lake County, Ill.) - An illegal alien from the Philippines was arrested Thursday morning on a felony complaint charging her with 17 counts related to voter fraud in Lake County. The state charges resulted from a joint investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Lake County State's Attorneys Office. CBP Finds 2 Illegal Aliens in Compartment Under Pickup Truck

March 08, 2011 (San Diego) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro port of entry Monday found two Mexican citizens attempting to cross into the U.S. illegally hidden under the bed liner of a pickup truck. More at CBP.gov
Self-described "Militant Extremist" Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Visa Fraud

February 28, 2011 (Greenbelt, Md.) - U.S. District Judge Roger W. Titus, sentenced Brahim Lajqi, 51, an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo, residing in Silver Spring, Md., today to five years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for visa fraud. The sentenced is the result of an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the FBI. More at ICE.gov
ICE Operation in South Florida Targeting at-large Convicted Criminal Aliens Nets 24 Arrests

February 24, 2011 (Miami, Fla.) - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers arrested 24 foreign nationals during a six-day enforcement action in South Florida targeting convicted criminal aliens identified in violation of U.S. immigration law. CBP Officers in Buffalo Arrest Imposter

January 26, 2011 (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) - U. S. Customs and Border Protection announced the arrest of a citizen of Albania on charges of false statements and misuse of a passport. On Jan. 25, CBP officers encountered a 29-year-old male at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing in Niagara Falls, N.Y. The subject stated that he was traveling to the area to sightsee for the afternoon. More at CBP.gov
Immigration Attorney Indicted for Filing False Visa Applications, Alien Harboring

CBP Finds 85-Year-Old Man with Marijuana at Calexico Port

January 6, 2011 (Calexico, Calif.) - Wednesday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m., the 85-year-old driver of a white 1993 Nissan stake bed pickup truck entered the Calexico border station for inspection. During an interview with a CBP officer, the officer noticed discrepancies with the truck, so he pulled it and the driver aside for a more in-depth examination. More at CBP.gov
Criminal Alien Who Illegally Re-entered US Sentenced to More than 4 Years in Federal Prison

January 5, 2010 (Orlando, Fla.) - Ronald Smith, 51, a citizen of Jamaica who was previously deported, was sentenced Wednesday to 54 months in federal prison, following an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Florida Highway Patrol and the Social Security Administration. Busy Day at Buffalo Border Crossings Net Three Wanted Fugitives

December 31, 2010 (Buffalo, N.Y.) - U. S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations recently announced the apprehension of three fugitives at the Port of Buffalo. On Dec. 30 at 9:30 am, CBP officers working the Lewiston Bridge border crossing encountered Desmond Duke, a 29-year-old U.S. citizen from Jamaica, N.Y., as he applied for admission into the United States. Citizen of Dominican Republic sentenced to 25 months for illegally reentering the US after deportation

December 29, 2010 (Hartford, Conn.) - A man from the Dominican Republic was sentenced Wednesday to 25 months in prison for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. This sentenced was announced by David B. Fein, U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut. 3 South Carolina counties to benefit from ICE strategy to use biometrics to identify and remove aliens convicted of a crime

December 21, 2010 (RIdgeland, S.C.) - On Dec. 14, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) began using a federal information sharing capability in Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties that helps federal immigration officials use biometrics to identify aliens, both lawfully and unlawfully present in the United States, who are booked into local law enforcement's custody for a crime. CBP Officers Find Illegal Alien Hidden in Buckets

December 17, 2010 (San Diego) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers Wednesday at the San Ysidro port of entry found an illegal alien hidden in the bed of a pickup truck, hidden under a bunch of buckets with holes cut for the man’s arms, legs, torso, and head so he could be hidden under tools and painting equipment. CBP officers seized the truck and arrested the driver of the vehicle, who will face federal felony charges for alien smuggling. More at CBP.gov
ICE arrests 13 on document fraud, conspiracy, identity theft charges, 3 previously deported criminal aliens among those arrested

December 16, 2010 (San Juan, Puerto Rico) - Thirteen individuals charged in four different criminal complaints with conspiracy, document fraud, aggravated identity theft, and reentering the United States after being deported, were arrested this morning by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents with the assistance of the San Juan Municipal Police and Puerto Rico Police Department. ICE removes international fugitive wanted for murder

December 16, 2010 (Miami) - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Wednesday removed a Dominican national, wanted in the Dominican Republic for first degree murder. Jose Odalis Perez-Calderon, aka Elvis Luna Peña, 32, was removed to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on an ICE Air Operations flight. Upon arrival at Herrera International Airport in Santo Domingo, Perez was turned over to Dominican law enforcement and immigration authorities. More at ICE.gov
CPB Captures Utah Fugitive at SeaTac Airport

December 14, 2010 (Seattle) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers apprehended an Olympia, Washington man on Saturday who was wanted by the U.S. Marshals on a no-bail 1st degree felony warrant for a drug distribution charge in Provo, Utah. The warrant was issued on August 11, 2010. More at CPB.gov
3 Plead Guilty in Harboring Illegal Aliens at Korean Room Salon

December 2, 2010 (Alexandria, Va.) - On Wednesday, the owner and the managers of a room salon in Falls Church, Va., pled guilty to conspiracy to harbor illegal aliens for commercial advantage and financial gain. This investigation was led by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Homeland Security Investigations. According to court records, the defendants admitted that they had employed female, Korean illegal aliens to serve as waitresses and hostesses of the room salon. More at ICE.gov
Mexican National Sentenced to More Than 5 Years in Federal Prison for Illegally Re-entering United States

December 2, 2010 (Panama City, Fla.) - A convicted criminal alien, who had been previously deported, was sentenced in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida on Wednesday to 64 months in federal prison for illegally re-entering the United States after being deported. Mario Ruiz-Toledo, 22, a Mexican national, was arrested on Feb. 2 following an investigation by the Bay County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) into multiple burglaries in Bay County, Fla. More at ICE.gov
