Standard & Poor's blew it, when it came to rating the junk bonds that led to the 2008 financial crisis. Or was the fabled, once impeccable rating agency in somebody's back pocket? You be the judge.
Following that debacle, the geniuses at S&P downgraded US debt, causing the stock market --- and our gasping pension funds --- to tumble downward yet again two weeks ago.
Well, perhaps it's payback time for these bozos. The word is out that the US Justice Department is investigating S&P concerning its actions during the run up to the Great Recession. Want to bet DOJ finds something worth prosecuting? Go get 'em, Uncle Sam. I'm rooting for you.
