Now the real US Olympic Committee has threatened to sue the Rednecks: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2024754/Redneck-Olympics-warned-real-Olympics-drop-face-lawsuit.html

Says the COmmittee, "Not only are we granted the exclusive rights to the Olympics in the United States by Congress and via federal law, we also have an obligation to protect those rights.
The protection of the intellectual property is incredibly important for us to be able to continue to provide America's elite athletes with the support they deserve.
We have no interest in looking like the big bad Olympic team committee. We have every interest in finding some sort of accommodation with the gentleman."

Here's my question: Can someone really own the word "Olympics"? According to Wikipedia (my authoritative source on most things), the Olympic Games began in Olympia Greece in 776 BC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_Olympic_Games If the name ain't in the public domain, then what is?
