Losers (who don't deserve it):

The 12 Philadelphia public school teachers who could have been rehired, had Ackerman's $905000 buyout been used for teacher salaries instead.

(Never mind what could have been done for some of Philadelphia's kids with that money. By the way, this source indicates that Ackerman's buyout is 43 times the average per capita annual income of the Philadelphians she was hired to serve.)

Big loser (and totally deserving it):

Former State Senator Vince Fumo, who is serving a 55 month sentence, after a jury convicted him of 137 felony corruption counts. Today, the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, responding to a rare appeal of a criminal sentence by the US Justice Department, said the federal judge who cut Fumo slack, didn't follow the rules. The government says Fumo deserved about 25 years or so. Now the case goes back to the trial court for reconsideration of the lenient 55 month penalty.
