The 85 wealthiest in the world have as much as the lower 3.5 billion, but we can't find unemployment benefits for our chronically unemployed: what's wrong with this picture?

In December, 1.3 million Americans abruptly lost their modest unemployment insurance benefits, which helped keep food on the table while they looked for work. Now is not the time to deal another blow to our economy and struggling families.
 
Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island has been a consistent champion for extending the unemployment insurance that would help struggling families. He sponsored the recent bipartisan measure that would extend these necessary benefits, and he is keeping the fight going, even as extremists in Congress have cold-heartedly tried to shut them down.
