Support marriage equality

Support marriage equality! Add your name. Jim,
There’s a battle happening right now in Virginia that could have implications for marriage equality across the country.
Following Democratic victories in the 2013 governor’s race and race for attorney general, Virginia’s new Democratic leadership is refusing to defend in court the state’s ban on same-sex marriages.
It’s a powerful and courageous stand in favor of equality, propelled by voters’ overwhelming decision to reject right wing extremism last year in a moderate swing state.
A judge is hearing arguments in the case right now.
Will you stand with us, Senator Tim Kaine and Attorney General Mark Herring in support of marriage equality in Virginia?
Here’s how Herring described his decision not to defend the same-sex marriage ban: "As attorney general, I cannot and will not defend laws that violate Virginians' rights," Herring said. "The commonwealth will be siding with the plaintiffs in this case and with every other Virginia couple whose right to marry is being denied."
Those are powerful words that should strike a chord with anyone who believes every American should be able to marry the person he or she loves.
But this fight is far from over. Marriage equality opponents have vowed to fight this issue all the way to the Supreme Court. They won’t stop until they succeed.
We’re partnering with Attorney General Mark Herring and Senator Tim Kaine to show our support for marriage equality in Virginia.
