States' support of higher ed saw a slight rise in the past year

But support is still way down from days of yore.

Many colleagues of mine in the public sector across the country continue to repeat the mantra:
Used to be state supported.
Then we were state affiliated.
Now we are just state located.

This phenomenon also hurts private higher education, because it forces the publics to compete harder for the students and their tuition, upon which many of us in the private arena rely.
