National Center for Education Stats does a data dump

Some highlights:

  • 18 million undergrads were enrolled in the US's 7000 higher ed institutions in Fall 2012
  • Four-year private universities suffered a 22% revenue decline, while publics were down only 1.5%
  • State funding for public universities declined another $3 billion.  State support now lags behind tuition as a revenue source.
  • About half of all teachers are now part-timers.  Part-timers outnumber full-timers at community colleges.
