No Tea Party for the Tealiban in Virginia

  Jim,
Tonight in Virginia we dealt a body blow to the Tea Party.
Virginia voters rejected the narrow extremism of Tea Party favorite Ken Cuccinelli in favor of a Democratic candidate who pledged to be a governor for every citizen – regardless of income, sexuality or gender.
Virginia voters’ rejection of Ken Cuccinelli is sending shivers down the spines of Tea Party leaders across the country, and for good reason: the Tea Party’s crushing defeat in a moderate swing state doesn’t bode well for other right-wing Republicans up for election next year.
As much as I’m going to relish tossing the Tea Party out of Virginia, now is definitely not time to stop – not when we’ve got the Tea Party on the ropes.
We spent big to keep Virginia out of Tea Party control, and we have the results to show for it. But our coffers are running low. Make sure the DGA can continue to take back our country from the Tea Party fringe with a gift today. With governors’ races in 36 states next year – and a fighting chance to win in almost all of them – we need to show the Tea Partiers we’re only getting started.
