The Autoworkers are back at NYU

Whether GA's and TA's are employees or students first has been a legal roller coaster at the NLRB.  The UAW successfully organized them at NYU after the Clinton Board said they were primarily employees and protected by the NLRA.  Then the Bush Board reversed and said the TAs and GAs at Brown were primarily students, not covered by the labor act.  After that, Nyu withdrew recognition after the first contract expired.
