What would Aristotle say?

"Any polis which is truly so called, and is not merely one in name, must devote itself to the end of encouraging goodness. Otherwise, a political association sinks into a mere alliance.... Otherwise, too, law becomes a mere covenant... a guarantor of men's rights against one another --- instead of being, as it should be, a rule of life such as will make the members of a polis good and just."

John Edwards, the former U.S. presidential candidate accused of accepting illegal campaign contributions to hide an extramarital affair, should face an October criminal trial, a federal prosecutor said.

Edwards, who has pleaded not guilty to charges he used donations to conceal the relationship and child he had with filmmaker Rielle Hunter while running for president in 2008, should be able to review evidence gathered by prosecutors in time for an October trial, Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. Higdon told a federal judge today in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's Popularity Declines in Wake of Love Child Scandal
June 18, 2011 12:20 PM EDT

Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't governor of California any more, but his poll numbers are nose-diving just the same. A recent Field Poll finds that three out of four Californians have a negative impression of their former Governator since the scandal involving his love child surfaced.

According to the L.A. Times, this rating scores Schwarzenegger lower than during either of his terms in political office.

It's good to know that many Californians--unlike Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, have some morals and standards. It sounds pretty clear that their disappointment and disapproval of his philandering ways speak volumes. Wouldn't it be interesting to hear how the former Governator feels about his popularity decline?
