Assistant Professor of Homeland Security and Emergency Management

In the field of emergency management with a specialization in Homeland Security students will gain a working knowledge of all the basic tenets in emergency management and homeland security that are encompassed in the phases of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. The position we are advertising will be situated in the College’s Military, Public Safety and Security (MPSS) Division. MPSS provides education and specialized training to undergraduate students and career professionals in the public-safety fields of criminal justice, fire science, emergency management, and homeland security. The exacting technical standards of our curriculum enables program completers to perform in dangerous and challenging environments. The person we seek will manage the Associate in Arts (AS) Emergency Administration and Management/Homeland Security degree Program.

The selected candidate at a minimum will possess a Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a graduate major concentration in Emergency Administration and Management, Homeland Security, Security Studies, or a related field. At least three (3) years professional experience serving a domestic security mission (e.g. weapons of mass destruction detection, transport security, border protection, immigration and customs enforcement, emergency management, counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism, and/or counter-intelligence). The preferred candidate will have a Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution with a graduate major concentration in Security Studies, or a related field; and Senior professional experience, some at the federal level, ideally with a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) component. Additionally the ideal candidate will have Computer skills for informing cyber security teaching; and significant public administration coursework.
