Augusta State University seeks a dean

College of Arts and Sciences

Augusta State University, a comprehensive state institution offering undergraduate and graduate degrees, seeks an exceptional academic administrator to serve as Dean of the Katherine Reese Pamplin College of Arts and Sciences. The Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and oversees the operations of the 14 academic departments that comprise the Pamplin College of Arts and Sciences.

Augusta State University is part of the University System of Georgia, governed by an 18-member Board of Regents. The Board oversees 35 colleges and universities serving approximately 311,000 students and employing more than 42,000 faculty and staff.

The Dean will have a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship and leadership to provide visionary direction for the College within the parameters of the University’s mission and strategic plan. Broad responsibilities for the Dean include the planning, development and administration of the College’s academic units while advocating on their behalf in the University community.

Qualified candidates must have earned a terminal degree from an accredited university, preferably in a discipline represented within the College. Also required are credentials commensurate with an appointment at the rank of Professor.

Other requirements include progressive experience in academic administration, a demonstrated commitment to shared academic governance, strong skills in management of financial and human resources, the ability to make strategic budget and operational decisions that maximize resources, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
