Ex-President of U. of New Mexico Is Arrested in Prostitution-Ring Investigation

A former president of the University of New Mexico, F. Chris Garcia, was arrested and jailed today as part of an investigation into a multistate prostitution ring that a physics professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University stands accused of running, according to the Associated Press and a local radio station, KRQE News 13. Mr. Garcia, an emeritus professor of political science who served as the university’s president in 2002 and 2003, was booked on a $35,000 bond on charges of promoting prostitution, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy, the radio station reported. The Associated Press reported that the police had served warrants to search Mr. Garcia’s home and his campus office.
