UMass Law School-Dartmouth seeks accreditation

Greeting from UMass Law!

The University of Massachusetts School of Law-Dartmouth has notified the American Bar Association (ABA) of its intent to apply for Provisional Accreditation. The timing of our request is consistent with the strategic plan of the Law School, and a Site Visit is scheduled for November, 2011. While we cannot give a specific timeline as to when we will receive the ABA’s decision, it is our expectation that we would receive notification sometime in 2012.

The Dean is fully informed as to the Standards and Rules of Procedure for the Approval of Law Schools by the American Bar Association. The Administration and the Dean are determined to devote all necessary resources and in other respects to take all necessary steps to present a program of legal education that will qualify for approval by the American Bar Association. The Law School makes no representation to any applicant that it will be approved by the American Bar Association prior to the graduation of any matriculating student.

More and more students are applying to the University of Massachusetts School of Law-Dartmouth and with an application date of June 30 the limited space in the entering class of first year students will soon be filled. We would ask that you encourage your studnets to learn more about UMass Law and apply for admission online by visiting our website at www.umassd.edu/law. We welcome personal inquiries by telephone at 508-985-1110 or by email at lawadmissions@umassd.edu.
