LSAC Law School Forums announced

Dear Prelaw Advisor:

It's time to begin thinking about the LSAC Law School Forums. I am writing to give you some information about these events being held in ten major cities—Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco Bay Area, Toronto, and Washington, DC.

The forums are a series of free law school recruitment fairs, each of which attracts an average of 160 law schools from across the United States and Canada, representing public and private, large and small, rural and urban law schools. The Law School Forums give students an opportunity to talk informally with law school representatives and get firsthand information about admission requirements, course offerings, campus life, and financial aid.

Admission is free and registration is easy. Starting April 18, participants can register online at www.LSAC.org/lawschoolforums. By registering ahead of time, the participants will avoid waiting in lines at the forum. When registered, participants receive a tracking number that they can give to schools in which they have an interest. The tracking number will allow law schools to contact potential applicants after the forum. To view and print a PDF flier indicating the dates and exact locations of the 2011 Law School Forums brought to you by LSAC and participating law schools, log in to your LSAC.org account, and visit www.lsac.org/Members/EventsRecruitment/ls-forum-fliers.asp. A breakdown of who should attend the Law School Forums can be found here: www.lsac.org/Members/EventsRecruitment/PDFs/WhoShouldAttend.pdf. Feel free to make as many copies as you need or order additional copies from Judy DiBenedetto at 215.968.1228 or jdibenedetto@LSAC.org. Please check the LSAC web site at www.LSAC.org/lawschoolforums for details about forum hours, workshop schedules, and other information.

In the past, several prelaw advisors have organized carpools and arranged bus trips to the forum. I encourage you and your colleagues at neighboring schools to arrange a group trip.

Prelaw advisors from HBCU, HACU, and Native American institutions can contact Yessenia García-Lebrón at ygarcia@LSAC.org to determine reimbursement eligibility for prelaw advisors and students to attend the forums. The application deadline for the summer forums is Friday, May 6. For direct access to the guidelines and forms, log in to www.LSAC.org and select Forum Subsidy Information from the Events & Recruitment drop down menu on the left. If you do not have a username and password to log in to the Prelaw Advisors area of www.LSAC.org, please e-mail prelaw@LSAC.org.

You are invited to join the law school representatives for lunch at the forums. Complimentary beverages will be available throughout the day at all forums. Please stop by the law school representative registration desk upon arrival to pick up a lunch schedule, lunch ticket, and name badge.

For more information, please encourage students to check the Law School Admission Council website at www.LSAC.org or call 215.968.1001. We are always considering better ways to inform potential law school applicants about the forums. If you have suggestions, please contact me at 215.968.1297 or send an e-mail to abrandt@lsac.org. I hope you and your students will plan to attend one of the upcoming forums.
