Colleagues and Fellow Veterans:
I
wanted to share some information from the Department of Homeland
Security regarding their veterans cyber hiring pilot. Cyber security is
a growing field with rich employment opportunities in both the private
and public sector.
DHS
has the lead for the federal government for securing civilian
government computer systems, and works with industry and state, local,
tribal and territorial governments to secure critical infrastructure and
information systems. Attached is the DHS Cyber Factsheet which
provides an overview of DHS’ mission in protecting the nation’s cyber
space and our commitment to veterans. The Factsheet also has a link to the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (NICCS)
portal which provides more information regarding education, training,
certifications, and cybersecurity competitions, as well as a page
dedicated to veterans (www.niccs.us-cert.gov/home/veterans), providing additional information on benefits and essential job seeking resources.
DHS
recognizes that veterans represent a unique pool of candidates due to
their proven talent and commitment to public service. They are committed
to building the nation’s cyber workforce capacity and supporting our
veterans at the same time by enhancing opportunities for veterans to be
trained, educated, and hired into this dynamic and fast growing career
field.
