Yo! Barrack needs boosters in Havertown

A couple of short weeks from now, President Obama will take the stage at the convention in Charlotte to accept the party's nomination.

His speech will be a big moment, and one that will kick off the last leg of this election. That's why in every state, folks will be getting together at house parties with their neighbors and friends to watch and celebrate.

But here's the thing: Last time I checked, no one in your neighborhood was planning an event. We need someone to make sure that your neighbors have somewhere to gather and experience the President's big speech -- and you could be that person.

Can you host a convention watch party in Havertown on September 6th?

You could keep it small, or make it big. Maybe you just want to have a few friends over, or maybe you want to invite some folks who are just getting involved in this election to come by and get to hear the President's words with some fellow supporters.

We're here to help you make it a success -- with a training and a set of materials like a sample agenda, a sign-in sheet, and a flyer to help you get the word out. And we'll also get you access to a livestream of the President's speech so you're all set to watch with your guests.

Hosting a watch party is a great way to be a part of the convention, from wherever you are. But it's even bigger than that.

Conventions used to be something that happened among a few political insiders. The President decided in 2008 to open the doors to tens of thousands of grassroots supporters for his acceptance speech in Denver -- because he knew that these supporters were the ones building the campaign and getting us to victory.

This year, he'll give that address in the Panthers' stadium, once again surrounded by tens of thousands of grassroots supporters. And if you host a watch party, you'll be bringing even more supporters together to be a part of it.

It's the kind of person-to-person organizing that this movement has always been built on. But it will only happen in your neighborhood if you step up to make it happen. Right now no one is on that.

Let me know if you can host a convention watch party in Havertown:
