Dear James Ottavio,
The Tea Party is on a mission -- they are winning Republican primaries so they can mount aggressive campaigns to try to take over the Senate this fall. It happened just last night in Indiana, and a few weeks ago, it happened right here at home.
These Tea Party wins threaten to move our country to the extreme right and further mire us in ideological gridlock. If the Tea Party wins this fall, we will continue to be plagued by gridlock as they try to dismantle Medicare and Social Security.
On April 24th, right here in Pennsylvania, Tom Smith won a heavily contested Republican primary by seizing the Tea Party vote.
How "Tea Party" is Tom Smith?
Prior to entering the Senate race, he founded his own very large Tea Party that covers two counties and consists of nearly 600 Tea Partiers.
During the race he proudly called himself a “Tea Party guy.”
His first stop after the primary was a Tea Party rally.
And on the campaign trail he has already espoused just about every Tea Party idea there is. Tom Smith is one of Pennsylvania's leading Tea Partiers.
Will you contribute today to help us stop Tea Party Tom Smith? Click here -- any amount can help us keep the Tea Party out of the Senate.
Not only does he consider himself a Tea Partier, but the Tea Party has already lovingly embraced him -- and pledged to put their effective support behind him. He is only the sixth Senate candidate in the country to receive the endorsement of the Tea Party Express - a major national Tea Party group. (Yes, the very same folks who helped Christine O'Donnell win the Delaware Republican primary last time around.)
The Tea Party is embracing Tom Smith because he has embraced their policies for years. Smith has backed their push to end Medicare as we know it, which will raise costs for seniors. Smith also would privatize Social Security and eliminate the Department of Education - two policies backed by the Tea Party.
Tom Smith may be right for the Tea Party, but we have to stand up for Pennsylvania and make it clear that Tea Party Tom Smith is wrong for our Commonwealth. Will you click here to donate today?
