Obama touts bin Laden's death, emphasizes American Exceptionalism, calls this the new American Century

My nephew, Alex Zubey, graduated from the Air Force Academy this afternoon.  The keynote speaker was President Obama.  I was privileged to be present here in Colorado Springs.

The Prez made several noteworthy points:

1.  He noted the elimination of Osama bin Laden several times.  Clearly this will be a theme of the campaign... his administration's tough stand against terrorism and its successes in defeating Al Qaeda and winding down the War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan.

2.  He spoke of American Exceptionalism.  This notion can be traced all the way back to Alexis de Tocqueville.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_exceptionalism

3.  He called the 21st century "the New American Century." This, too, resonates with well-established, traditional views of the United States as a unique historical phenomenon.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Century

These are themes we can expect throughout the campaign.
