On March 11 and 25, I will be presenting closely related papers at the Fifth Annual Homeland Defense Education Forum at the University of Maryland, and at the Annual Conference of the New Jersey Association of Criminal Justice Educators at Brookdale College. My thesis is that the War on Terror will, and should, morph into primarily a law enforcement effort from now on... supplemented by covert actions abroad.
My second prediction for the new decade (2011-2020) is that Homeland Security will become the principal agency for responding to all domestic disasters and threats, other than those in the province of the FBI. Counter-terrorism will be a part of the mission, but only a part, and probably not the major part.
Third, I believe that making America competitive on the global economic front will be a central theme and mission of the Fed, the states, and private industry. Higher education will play a crucial role.
As for me... I believe I am perfectly positioned to play an important role in the decade ahead.
