ACJS 2011 Annual Meeting Special Event

As many of you are aware, ACJS and Toronto-based Red Car Producers will present the premiere of a new play written by Judge H. Lee Sarokin, “Who is the Enemy?”, at the Annual Meeting on Thursday, March 3. Doors will open to the Dominion Ballroom at 3:30 PM, with the performance beginning at 4:00 PM. Following the play, there will be a panel discussion from 5:00 – 6:00 PM.

“Who is the Enemy?” puts a fictional U.S. president on trial against an American Afghan professor thrown in prison as an enemy combatant. Judge Sarokin, now a blogger with The Huffington Post, was a litigator for 25 years before being appointed to the U.S. Third District Court for New Jersey by President Jimmy Carter. President Bill Clinton then appointed Judge Sarokin to the U.S. Court of Appeal. In his 17 years on the Federal bench, Judge Sarokin settled 3,000 cases.

For the panel discussion, Judge Sarokin will be joined by Dr. Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, the famous boxer that Judge Sarokin freed after almost 20 years in prison, and who was the subject of the highly acclaimed Denzel Washington movie, “The Hurricane.” Dr. Carter is also the author of a new book, “Eye of the Hurricane: My Path From Darkness to Freedom.”

This promises to be a very special and exciting event. Please be sure to attend.
