In order to protect its own non-profit status, the NCAA has proposed a separate category for for-profit universities.

It's getting harder to keep the word "profit" out of big-time college athletics, as a federal court recently ruled in favor of the plaintiffs in the O'Bannon anti-trust case and a regional NLRB director declared Division I footballers to be employees, not students.
