But what kind of immigration reform do we want?

SEIU
James,
Eliseo-play-320px.jpgOn the second day of our Fast for Families campaign, Speaker John Boehner announced that the House had no intention of working with the bill the Senate had already passed for immigration reform.
The following week, legislators, including Republicans, began to visit the Fast for Families fasting tent on the National Mall.
The fast gained traction.
Thousands of people signed up to fast across the country and the globe and scores began to pay visits to the fasting tent.
Then we began to receive visitors from the White House at the fasting tent: cabinet members and even Vice President Joe Biden!
The day after Thanksgiving we received two unannounced visitors: President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The President and the First Lady prayed for us and prayed for the 11 million undocumented immigrants caught in our nation's broken immigration system. It was a huge turning point - we'd finally broken through the political noise and touched our nation's moral conscience like never before.
By the end of our fast, Speaker John Boehner had entirely changed his tune, announcing that not only was immigration reform NOT dead; but he was appointing a new expert to help him pass legislation in the House. And on December 12th, the day that we ended the fast on the National Mall and commissioned the country to continue to "Act, Fast & Pray" until immigration reform is achieved, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) announced that immigration reform would be a top priority for the House GOP in 2014.
The majority of Americans--including Republicans--want immigration reform, and we're going to make it happen in 2014. Watch Eliseo Medina's video message to see how far we've come and we're going in this fight in the coming year.
We've fought hard to keep immigration reform alive going into 2014. We won't get it unless we keep fighting as hard as we can.
We'll be back in the New Year, as relentless as ever.
Thanks for everything you've done to get us here!

I certainly agree that reform is needed. But the last time the US gave an amnesty --- in '86 --- we didn;t get the enforcement follow-up we were promised.  Thus the 12 million additional illegals in the land today.  Will reform merely be a repeat of the past?

If so, we should be asking the question: How much immigration do we want...
given the impact of increasing population on the environment...
given the jobless recovery... given international terrorism??????????????
