Workshop at Graterford Prison:  An Interactive Workshop Focused on
“Perceptions of Crime and Justice”

You are invited to a special workshop to be held at Graterford Prison as part of this year's ACJS Annual Meeting. Since the meeting is in Philadelphia, The Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program has offered to conduct a three-hour workshop with a group of men incarcerated at Graterford, one of the largest maximum-security prisons in the country. This group has been meeting for more than 10 years and has continued to play a central role in the international development of the Inside-Out Program.
The Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program promotes social change through transformative education. It is an initiative directed at deepening the conversation – and transforming ways of thinking – about crime, justice, and related social issues. Founded in 1997, and a national (now, international) program since 2004, Inside-Out brings colleges students and others together with incarcerated individuals as peers in a classroom setting that emphasizes dialogue, critical thinking, collaboration, and creation of new ideas.
Location:  Graterford Prison, near Collegeville, PA (about an hour northwest of Philadelphia).
Date and Time:  Wednesday, February 19, 2014, 5:00PM to 8:15PM.   Bus will leave the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown at 3:00 PM and return to the hotel at approximately 9:15 PM.
Cost:  $75 per person, payable at time of registration.  Limit 25 participants.
How to Register:  Email (manager@acjs.org) or call (301-446-6300) the ACJS National Office.  Please provide the names of participants, email addresses, and credit card information payment.
Deadline for Registration: December 20, 2013.  Clearance forms will be emailed to attendees on that date and must be completed and mailed to the program contact to be received no later than January 6, 2014.
