Jim,
There’s a new poll out in Pennsylvania today that confirms what we already knew: when a governor fails to do his job and then blames his own failure on Pennsylvanians, they don’t respond well.
Only 25% of voters approve of the job Tom Corbett is doing as governor, according to the Franklin & Marshall College poll. That’s not surprising, given that Corbett has taken the state from 7th in job creation down to 49th.
What’s so appalling is that instead of admitting his own failure, Corbett actually accused unemployed workers of being ‘on drugs’ (yes, you read that correctly).
Let’s give Governor Corbett a wake-up call.
Sign our petition with the Pennsylvania Democratic Party to tell Tom Corbett that his Tea Party policies – not the people of Pennsylvania – are to blame for his failed record.
Governor Corbett has a history of passing the buck to avoid blame.
In 2010, Corbett claimed the unemployment rate wasn’t improving because too many workers were content to just “sit there” and collect unemployment insurance checks.
Not only is that offensive, it’s just plain inaccurate. Under President Obama, the national unemployment rate is now to its lowest level since 2008. Other states are improving, while Corbett isn’t lifting a finger to help Pennsylvania’s middle class.
Stand with the overwhelming majority of Pennsylvanian’s who think Governor Corbett’s record is a disaster.
Sign our joint petition with the Pennsylvania Democratic Party today.
Pennsylvania deserves a governor who will get the job done without making bogus excuses. Let’s let Governor Corbett know that we’re putting him on notice.
Sincerely,
Elisabeth Pearson
Democratic Governors Association
