Today's unemployment figures are expected to show that the US has finally reached the job level prior to the 2008 financial meltdown.

This is not an unalloyed positive story.  The unemployment rate is a bit above 6%… and this number is deceptive due to the number of Americans no longer trying to find work and therefore not counted.
Additionally, some parts of the country are particularly hard hit.  For instance, California's legendary Central Valley is plagued by 11-12% unemployment, reminiscent of the days of Tom Jode, depicted above.

One more thing I find worth noting: many employers complain that they would hire more workers if they could find applicants with the right skill sets.
