Sign on to support President Obama's historic action:
In 29 states, it’s legal to fire someone for being gay. The President is drafting an executive order that would ban workplace discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender employees of federal contractors. Add your name to support his plan: NAME: Jim Castagnera |
This is a historic step forward: for decades, Democrats have fought to ban workplace discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, and national original. Now, gay Americans working for federal contractors will no longer have to live in fear for their jobs.
But -- we still have more work to do. President Obama’s order ONLY covers federal contractors. Otherwise, in 29 states, it’s still legal to be fired for your sexual orientation. That’s why we want to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) to protect all workers.
The single most important thing we can do to force Republicans in Congress to stop blocking ENDA is show that we’re backing up President Obama’s executive action to fight discrimination. Will you help us reach 500,000 signatures?
