Universities offer interest-free loans to help vets bridge benefits gaps

Hi Dr. Jim

Dakduk, SVA ED official photoWASHINGTON, DC - Executive Director of Student Veterans of America, Michael Dakduk, released the following statement in response to a press release issued by The Ohio State University and media accounts of The Ohio State University and Miami University offering no-interest loans in support of student veterans:

"I am gratified to see that The Ohio State University and Miami University have stepped up to support student veterans and military family members affected by late payments from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

VA payments will not be on time for everyone; it is an unfortunate reality that has remained consistent for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

Universities can either choose to complain about delayed benefits, or they can follow The Ohio State University and Miami University model of creating unique solutions to a long-standing problem.

I hope to see more universities stepping up to offer support to veterans on campus."
