(Photo credit: Wikipedia)Okay, okay... as a friend and former law-firm colleague of mine points out on Linked In today, Bill Clinton can be (and, of course, has been) accused of many things. Personally, I believe that Kenneth Starr and the GOP should forever feel shame for making the U.S. a worldwide laughing stock for impeaching a head of state over a blow job. But be that as it may, Clinton left America with an operating surplus when he left the White House... which was promptly wasted by "W" in the Iraq War. Who is guilty of the greater sin? Clinton, who got some head and then tried to lie his way out of impeachment? Or Bush, who lied about WMD in order to take us into a war in Iraq that had nothing at all to do with the War on Terror and everything to do with Haliburton and Big Oil? I see the former as a venial sin and the latter as a mortal sin.
The GOP seems to agree. Where were its former presidents, George H.W. and George W. Bush, during last week's convention? Where were Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. for that matter?
The Dems are not ashamed of Bill Clinton, nor should they be. Here's hoping he helps the cause tonight.
