With developments in the Middle East suggesting things are spiraling out of control, and Israel pressing the Obama administration to make a final decision about an attack on Iran, many believe we are on the precipice of a major conflagration.
The top commander of Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard warns “nothing will remain” of Israel if it takes military action against Iran for its controversial nuclear program.
Meanwhile an al-Qaida group in North Africa called the murder of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya a “gift” and encouraged more protests, urging supporters “to kill their (American) ambassadors and representatives or to expel them to cleanse our land.”
And as the protests continue, the United States and its allies have launched a major naval exercise in the Persian Gulf.
All this as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tells the U.S. media that Iran is close to being able to build a nuclear bomb, fueling talk of an Israeli airstrike and putting tremendous pressure on the U.S.
