Caught in the middle... kids without countries

The children of illegal immigrants --- some 1.5 million --- are kids without countries.  They can't prove they are American citizens.  And they can't prove they are citizens of anywhere else, either.  They can't "go back" to homelands where they have never been.  But it's also hard to make it in the States, where a gigsaw puzzle of state laws often make it difficult or impossible to get into a college at a rate they can afford.  Here is one such young person's story:
