PA Commonwealth Court enjoins VOter ID law

Dear James Ottavio,
After weeks of testimony and exchanges on both sides of the debate, the Court has given us an answer on the issue of Voter ID.
Today, Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court Judge Simpson issued a preliminary injunction which stops the full implementation of the Voter ID law from taking place during the 2012 election - but make no mistake - Voter ID could be the law in Pennsylvania for elections to come.
With only five weeks until Election Day, our overall goal has not changed. We will continue to work to preserve all Pennsylvanians' right to vote. Now more than ever, our focus is on education and outreach to protect the integrity of our elections.
Many of you have already contributed time and money to these efforts and we should celebrate today's victory but remain vigilant in the coming weeks to ensure that this Republican tactic does not silence the will of Pennsylvania's voters.

Kevin Washo,
Executive Director Pennsylvania Democratic Party
