Higher Ed: When everybody's somebody, no one's anybody

Profs claim they'll teach courses to thousands of enrollees:

To my mind, this is all utter nonsense.  I taught an online course this past spring.  It had ten students, and I spend every Saturday, grading and commenting on their week's work, responding to their queries, and posting the next week's assignments.  When everybody can get into a course, nobody gets personal attention.  The prof might just as well not be there.
