The "Quest for Research Excellence" 2011 conference is August 29-30, 2011 and will be at Georgetown University's Leavey Conference Center and Hotel. The deadline for early registration has been extended to July 14, and for hotel rooms it is July 14.

The ORI Quest for Research Excellence 2011 conference also announces that the plenary speakers include Dr. Jonathan Beckwith, Dr. Susan M. Reverby, and Dr. Edward F. Gabriele. Dr. Beckwith, a molecular biologist from Harvard University, is the author of "Making Genes, Making Waves: A Social Activist in Science." Dr. Reverby, Wellesley College, is the author of "Normal Exposure," about the Government Study on Syphilis in Guatemala between 1946-48. Dr. Gabriele, Special Assistant for Ethics and Professional Integrity to the Surgeon General of the United States Navy, will speak about the challenge of ethics for individuals, institutions, communities and cultures.
There will be more than 25 poster and 80 oral presentations on education in responsible conduct of research (RCR) and findings from research on research integrity (RRI). There will be special tracks for research integrity officers (RIOs), graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, and an international track.
A special track dedicated to RIOs will contain elements of a "mini RIO boot camp" led by Drs Dahlberg and Wright and the ORI attorneys. The sessions will be held on Monday, August 29 and are included in the regular registration.
Research Integrity: the Role of Institutions will be highlighted in a session on Monday August 29 10:30 - 12:30 am. The Council of Graduate Schools Project on Scholarly Integrity will be highlighted in a session on Monday August 29 3:45 -5:15 pm.
