National Undergraduate Diversity Mock Trial Competition

Dear Pre-Law Advisor:
There is still time to register for the National Undergraduate Diversity Mock Trial Competition on Friday and Saturday, April 13th and 14th, 2012.  Students will compete for up to $30,000 in tuition waivers to The John Marshall Law School in downtown Chicago and similar tuition waivers will be awarded by Suffolk University Law School in Boston and Southwestern School of Law in Los Angeles.
Each participant will be placed on a three-member team.  Individual competitors are welcome, as teams will be assigned Friday, morning to insure diversity on every team.  Mock trial materials are available at the links provided below.  Law students will be on hand to assist in coordinating the program.  Opportunities will be provided for the competing teams to interact with our law students to learn more about the law school experience.
If you are aware of any students or student groups at your school or anywhere else, that might be interested in competing for honors and tuition waivers, please share this letter with them.  The registration deadline is April 10, 2012.  The brochure, registration form and case materials can be viewed by going to the following link:
http://www.jmls.edu/diversity/programs/national-undergrad-mock-trial.asp
Please be assured that the case has been designed to be easily grasped and no additional research is required. We have found that interested students can get up to speed quickly.  Participants will be judged on the comprehension of the case and by their ability to perform the roles of opening statement, direct examination, cross examination, and closing argument.  Hardship waivers are available if the $35 registration fee would be an obstacle to participate.
Please contact me by telephone at 312-987-1411 or by e-mail atdiversity@jmls.edu<mailto:diversity@jmls.edu>, if you have any questions regarding registration or the competition rules.  We look forward to welcoming you and your students to Chicago.
Best regards,
