Immigration reform is losing momentum

House Republicans refuse to take up the Senate's omnibus package. And, though I rarely side with that crowd, they have my support on this issue.

In 1986 the Congress passed omnibus immigration reform.  Millions of illegals were fast tracked to citizenship.  And the promise of tighter border control went unfulfilled.  The result: an estimated 11 million more illegals in the US a quarter century later.  Like the House GOP, I would like some real assurance that this new bill won't start yet another cycle of exactly the same sort.
