Very soon, the Senate will be getting ready to vote on common-sense proposals to reduce gun violence -- centered around universal background checks.
More than nine in 10 Americans agree on this, but there are still some in Congress who have committed to standing in the way with whatever political games they can use. Some are even trying to prevent the issue from being debated at all.
Now is the time to stand together and demand action.
This Saturday, along with our friends at Mayors Against Illegal Guns, folks across the country are holding community events to demand a vote on reducing gun violence -- and there's one near you, Jim.
We need you to be part of this. RSVP for the community event to reduce gun violence in Philadelphia today.

When senseless tragedy struck Newtown, Connecticut, in December, we promised ourselves that we would act -- that we would do whatever we could to make sure that no family has to go through what the families in Newtown experienced.
We owe it to those families -- and to every family that has been victim to gun violence -- to keep that promise.
That's the message this weekend, and it's why OFA supporters are getting together to make our voices heard. If we stand together, we can go toe-to-toe with the powerful gun lobby -- and win.
Make sure you're a part of it.
