The two-percent solution

Let the critics rant and rave about Obamacare. Two percent more young adults are covered by insurance --- because they can remain on their parents' insurance --- than a year ago. Still, some 50 million Americans, 16%+, remain without health insurance... a fact about which we ought to be ashamed.

Of course, those with what I believe is called "fuck you" money are not ashamed at all. Witness this comment today from a reader of this blog:

"Obama has never gotten his act together with respect to the American Economy. He has never had to make a payroll, make employment decisions, worry about competition, worry about quality control, worry about health insurance costs. This guy is an ideoligical cancer that is rapidly destroying the free market that made this country into the super power it once was."

Bill Clinton, Republican-like, gave America a balanced budget. George Bush used lies to lead us into a needless war in Iraq. He left us with the largest deficit and national debt in American history... very un-Republican like. So how can folks, like the one quoted above, forgive him and curse Obama?

Simple, I think: So long as their "fuck you" money remains untaxed and safely invested, the rest of America be damned.

I hope I'm wrong, but that's the only conclusion I am able to reach.
