Time for moderation and civility

If you agree, here's an organization you may want to check out:

About Us
Who We Are

Third Way is an innovative and influential think-tank that creates and advances moderate policy and political ideas. We advocate for private-sector economic growth, a tough and smart security strategy, a clean energy revolution, bold education and anti-poverty reforms, and progress on divisive culture issues.

Our senior team is comprised of a former Clinton White House deputy and Department of Housing and Urban Development chief of staff, former senior Senate and House policy aides, non-profit issue advocates and experts and campaign veterans. We are governed by a prominent private-sector Board of Trustees, including former top government officials and leaders from business, finance, academia, and non-profits.
What We Believe

Too often, our nation’s policy and political debates are defined by the rigid or outdated orthodoxies of both the left and right. This polarization leads to ideologically driven policies and political gridlock, and it ignores the voices of millions of Americans in the forgotten middle.

We believe there is a better way, a “third way” – one that discards the false choices presented by both sides. This third way philosophy is ideal for fostering the most effective and emergent approaches to major problems – ones that can attract the plurality of citizens who represent the political center and whose support is crucial to winning the war of ideas.
What We Do

With a staff of 35 and five policy programs, including Economics, National Security, Culture, Domestic Policy, and Clean Energy, our work includes: drafting and marketing concise and easy-to-use issue papers and reports; conducting original public opinion research and writing politically savvy strategy and framing memos; and hosting advocate, thought-leader and government briefings, as well as public “Idea Forums” and trainings.
What They Say

A major profile in Politico recently concluded that Third Way has emerged as the new leader of the moderate movement and is positioned “front and center” on the main issues in the national debate. And Gregg Easterbrook of The Atlantic wrote that “Third Way is rapidly emerging as Washington’s most important beyond-ideology think tank.”

Many others have noted our impact, including: David Brooks (on the economy), David Broder (on electoral trends), Politico (on immigration and health care reform), The New Yorker (on abortion), Joe Klein (on security), EJ Dionne (on the culture divide), The New York Times (on the role of moderates), The Wall Street Journal (on economic growth), The Washington Post (on energy reform), as well as NPR, and all of the broadcast and cable television networks.
