Watch the Live Stream: First Lady Michelle Obama's "100,000 Strong" China Study Abroad Initiative
This morning at 10:30 a.m. EST, First Lady Michelle Obama will deliver remarks on the campus of Howard University before a group of high school and college students to discuss the China State Visit and the importance of young Americans engaging people around the world. You can watch this event on a live webcast at: http://exchanges.state.gov/live-stream.html

Supporting the President's "100,000 Strong" initiative, the First Lady will speak prior to an assembled student panel to discuss the benefits of studying abroad. Panelists, including several Gilman Scholar alumni, will also share insights from their studies in China and will encourage the audience of students to study internationally. In 2009, the President announced the "100,000 Strong" initiative, a national effort designed to dramatically increase the number and diversification of American students studying in China. The initiative seeks to prepare the next generation of American experts on China who will be charged with managing growing political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
